Welcome to the School of Education.

The School of Education, in the Faculty of Professions at the University of Adelaide, has a history of over 120 years of educational research and in teacher education in South Australia. The School offers a range of degrees at both undergraduate and graduate levels, which includes the Bachelor of Teaching, Graduate Diploma in Education, a number of masters programs (coursework and research) and two doctoral programs.

A strong nexus between research, teaching and learning underpins the structure of our comprehensive programs and the courses included in them. Moreover, our programs are benchmarked with other Go8 universities, and our international collaborations in research introduce broader issues (UNESCO and OECD reports, TIMSS and PISA studies) into our theory and practice of education.

Our pre-service programs have interacting course streams, namely curriculum design and methodology, assessment models and practices, student-teacher interactions in the classroom, family and cultural context of learning, and a pertinent practicum component. Most of our academics teach courses in ALL programs, and they bring their research expertise and insights to guide and support our students. Staff members in the School of Education are important members of Communities of Practices and Learning, and collaborate in a number of initiatives that fosters networks within the various education sectors, community and with professional bodies.

We are committed to continually reinforcing and enhancing our tradition in educational research, pre-teacher education and teacher professional learning in South Australia and beyond. Moreover, we are dedicated to the attraction, retention, motivation and empowerment of educators to the current and next generations of learners.

I urge you to explore the various programs and opportunities we offer for both study and research with us.
